FAQ

  1. What type of wood do you use?
Our carvings, log furniture, and timber products are made exclusively from the finest Western Red Cedar, sustainably harvested from the West Coast of British Columbia.
  2. How long will it take to complete my project?
Completion time depends on a number of factors such as season, project complexity and carver availability. Most projects can be completed within two months’ time. Contact us for more information on current project completion times.
  3. Do you do carvings for clients who do not own your homes?
Of course! We commission carvings for non-Pioneer home owners, community groups, commercial companies, Pioneer Log Home owners, charity groups, the list goes on!
  4. I like this, but are you able to customize it?
Yes! Our motto here at Pioneer is “If you can dream it, we can build it!” That goes for not only our homes but also our chainsaw carvings, slabs, custom log furniture, and so on.
  5. What dimensions of cedar timber do you have available?
We can mill almost any dimensions you desire; everything from a standard 8 foot 2×4 to custom live edge slabs!
  6. What kinds of siding do you manufacture?
We create cedar straight edge, wavy edge and log siding. Our log siding is manufactured from round edges, created in the milling of timbers; we do our very best not to waste a single piece of the cedar logs.
  7. Can I purchase a single cedar log?
Yes, we sell everything from our renowned family trees to logs used as driveway entry’s and much more.
  8. How do I care for my log furniture or carving?
Furniture and carving care is of the utmost importance when it comes to guaranteeing their longevity. Your product should be finished with a water based wood finish. We recommend Sherwin Williams Log Home Stain. Your custom wood piece can withstand the outdoors, however, the more cover and shelter they have from the elements, the longer they will last and the less upkeep they will require.
  9. Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A 50%, non-refundable, deposit is required prior to starting any custom furniture or custom carving orders. Full payment is required before pick up or shipping.
  10. What if I need to cancel my order?
You are able to cancel your project at any time; unfortunately, the 50% deposit is non-refundable.
  11. What about cracks?
Cracks are a natural part of the wood. We use the driest wood available, but even so, cracks are likely to occur. If there is a crack large enough to cause a structural issue, or to degrade the appearance of the carving, we will work with you to resolve the problem.
